Pastors: How I Reach New Movers For Almost NOTHING (except postage) AND YOU CAN TOO!

If you're like most pastors. you're looking for church outreach ideas. And if you're like most pastors you need something that's effective and economical. If that describes you, you've come to the right place!

I don't care what you've heard in the past about direct mail cost or direct mail marketing, I'm about to flip that on it's head to show you how I send targeted direct mail postcards for just the cost of postage and you can too!

As you can tell by the video, I'm a real person slugging it out as a Pastor like you are. That's me in my office. You can also find me on Facebook most days (feel free to connect if we haven't already!).

I'm always looking for ministry ideas to reach new people, but I'm not rich so I have to look for ways that are economical. BUT EFFECTIVE to boost church outreach and ultimately membership. The main thing I'm looking for is ways to connect with new people and enter into a spiritual conversation as quickly as possible. From time to time I find a real gem. This is one of those times!

One night on Facebook I made the mistake of asking "How many Pastors would like a FREE new movers mailing list?"

We all know the value of reaching new movers. "Life Changes" like moving can prompt emotions of joy or sadness, stress or worry, and these can become times of spiritual reflection when people WELCOME a contact from a friendly church or pastor if we just reach out then.

I had a ministry reaching out to new movers once in another town but the mailing costs became prohibitive in part because of the cost of names and the fact that they were taking a markup at every stage of mailing... and of course the follow up was all up to me. They would mail each new mover and hopefully I'd get the responses I needed. And that did work for a while, but it became very expensive as you can imagine.

Then one day I stumbled upon a FREE and continually updated source of names ... if I had only known where to find them before! And it didn't involve running around all over town to visit city offices or any other "time suck" like that. Or paying per name or "minimums" either.

And then I learned how to create my own postcard mailers as I'll show you. Anyway, back to my FB post...

I was overwhelmed by the response to my post, got sick the next day (just a one day thing) and couldn't keep up. So I decided to upload this information here. BUT I also decided to include everything I did and also every tool I use in the process of contacting new movers so you can easily do it to and start talking to new people who WANT to connect with you about spiritual matters.

What I love most about this is getting texts asking for prayer and being able to follow up many times over the course of a few months, all from a postcard that basically only cost me the price of a stamp to send!

Here's what I've included:

Video 1: How to get a Free New Mover's Mailing List. These lists go for the cost per name and usually a "minimum". If you're in a small town without many movers the "minimum prices" eat you alive and if you're in a big town, the cost per name can do that too! (For instance my town's list of new movers would have cost me $48.75! Ouch!) I show you how to get up to 1000 to use at any time FOR FREE! That's a $215 value every time you pull a mailing list!

Video 2: How to create your 4x6 Postcard for mailing using the Free Online Tool "Canva". More importantly in the RESOURCE DOCUMENT I've included a link to my Canva TEMPLATE so you can just click, change a few words and contact number (or change as much as you like) and BOOM... you've got a postcard to send! More card styles are being added soon to give you other options too! Or make you're own. You'll see how soon if you don't know already!

Video 3: How to set up your system for getting calls/texts and having them in one place to follow up as much as you want... this is the key to the system... FOLLOWING UP FOR FREE (though it wouldn't hurt to mail your new movers multiple times). And I answer the question "why shouldn't I just use Facebook Messenger?"... you'll learn why!

Video 4: How I sent 195 4x6 Full Color New Mover Postcards for ONLY the cost of POSTAGE! I'll tell you the mailing platform I use, but you can use the other three videos to create an outreach program no matter what mailing system you use... even if it's just the youth group hand addressing postcards you printed in the church office on Wednesday night while munching pizza.
